ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Peer-to-peer learning
&
support for small businesses.

67% of entrepreneurs say other entrepreneurs are their most valuable source of learning.
— Heavy Chef Entrepreneur Education Survey. 2021.

Entrepreneurs do better together.

The Heavy Chef Foundation’s development programme offer peer-to-peer learning and support for startups and small business owners.

The participation of likeminded entrepreneurs in the design and roll-out of their learning creates knowledge-sharing and support networks that sustain themselves beyond our programme.

THE CHALLENGE

The Heavy Chef Foundation’s research programme continues to reveal significant barriers entrepreneurs face to up-skill themselves to build their businesses - including:

  • 76% say there are no learning programmes in their community.

  • 62% say they want more opportunities to network.

  • 78% learn mostly informally by themselves.

  • 79% have no mentor that they can relate to.

  • 64% say entrepreneur education content is invaluable to them.

  • 68% have little to no access to services and tools that can help their business grow.

THE INSIGHTS

We have adopted an impact research methodology where platform and programme interactions and the process of impact itself become an invaluable source of insights.

These insights together with our deep library of entrepreneur education data form the foundation of our development programmes.

THE PROGRAMME

Heavy Chef Learning Bites allow entrepreneurs to design their own learning pathways within a set programme structure.

The design of our development model is purely evidence-based and follows a simple yet highly responsive pedagogy: Learn. Do. Share.

  • Learn. Hyper-targeted and contextual peer-to-peer and self-directed engagements around learning bites.

  • Do. Regular application of learnings into business guided by facilitators, technical experts and relevant resources.

  • Share. Feedback of application to group of peers against set outcomes to refine learning pathways.

Benefits of bite-size.

Heavy Chef produces over 100s of learning bites every week. The volume, quality and relevance of our micro-bites of learning provide our programmes with the ability to be highly responsive to the needs of entrepreneurs.
